Title: Pit Stop for Data: Accelerate Learning with Google Sheets
Course Description: In this hands-on session, teachers will learn how to use Google Sheets as a powerful tool to track, organize, and analyze data from reading and math benchmark tests. Discover how to efficiently input student scores and use conditional formatting to quickly visualize progress, identify trends, and pinpoint areas of improvement. With conditional formatting, you'll learn how to automatically highlight key data points, making it easy to track student performance and make data-driven decisions. By the end of the session, you’ll be equipped with practical skills to manage and analyze benchmark data, helping you support each student’s growth and success in a more targeted, efficient way. Whether you're new to data tracking or looking to refine your process, this session will provide valuable strategies to enhance your teaching practice.
What Tech Tool Will Be Utilized: Google Sheets
Instructional Strategy: Using Google Sheets to track data to engage PLC decisions and RTI information for specific students.
What You’ll Experience: In this session, teachers will experience a practical, hands-on approach to using Google Sheets for data tracking and analysis. They will:
- Learn to Input Student Scores Efficiently: Teachers will practice entering reading and math benchmark test scores into Google Sheets, organizing data in a way that’s easy to manage and analyze.
- Master Conditional Formatting: Teachers will discover how to use conditional formatting to automatically highlight key data points, such as scores above or below a certain threshold, making trends and areas for improvement immediately visible.
- Analyze Student Progress: Teachers will gain skills to quickly identify trends in student performance, such as areas where students are excelling or struggling, enabling them to make timely, data-driven decisions to support student growth.
- Track Data Over Time: Teachers will learn how to track student performance over multiple benchmarks, visualizing long-term progress and pinpointing patterns in learning.
- Create Data-Driven Action Plans: Teachers will leave with strategies for using their benchmark data to inform instructional decisions, ensuring that every student gets the support they need to succeed.
By the end of the session, teachers will be confident in their ability to use Google Sheets to track, analyze, and act on benchmark test data, enhancing their ability to make informed decisions that drive student achievement.
What Challenge You Will Do: Teachers will leave the classroom with a data sheet that is ready to start the school year and it formatted to show where students are heading throughout the school year.
